Job Details:
We are seeking a skilled and rising Tax Accountant for our Tax team. This exciting role is ideal for a professional with a solid background in handling Multi-State Tax Returns, Gift and Estate Tax, and similar returns. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a challenging environment, is passionate about tax accounting, and is eager to make a significant impact on our company’s financial operations.
Responsibilities:
As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
1. Preparing and reviewing gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax returns (Form 709).
2. Assisting clients in understanding and managing estate and gift tax issues, including the computation of estate tax, gift tax, generation-skipping transfer tax, and state inheritance tax.
3. Developing tax planning strategies for estates and trusts, and preparing fiduciary income tax returns.
4. Providing support during tax audits and responding to tax notices.
5. Keeping abreast of current developments and changes in tax law and accounting procedures.
6. Collaborating with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
7. Providing guidance and training to junior staff members on tax accounting matters.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification would be a plus.
2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in tax accounting, with a strong focus on gift tax, Form 709, and estate tax.
3. In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations, particularly as they pertain to gift and estate tax.
4. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret tax laws and regulations and apply them to specific client situations.
5. Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
6. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
