POSITION SUMMARY
The Buyer follows established purchasing department procedures to coordinate activities involved with managing suppliers and necessary production material to purchase order specification(s) and monitor and measure the supplier performance in the areas of delivery, quality, cost, and responsiveness. The Buyer may be requested to execute sourcing strategies. In addition, the buyer may be directed to conduct procurement audits. The Buyer works to ensure the consistency and quality of products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Achieving cost reduction initiatives
- Evaluate Supplier quotes and services
- Prepares and processes purchasing orders
- Maintains cooperative working relationship with Suppliers to stay current with trends and technologies, products, and services
- Manages suppliers for specific commodity
- Resolves problems and issues arising from purchases of goods, services, supplies and equipment with internal and external customers
- Monitors On-Time-Deliveries (OTD)
- Expedite shipments
- Prepares documentation for product to be Returned to Vendor (RTV)
- Actively participate in required training and development programs and electives as suits one’s needs, and support colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts
- Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in the field or related area
- Skills:
- Procurement experience in an MRP environment
- Possess analytical, decision making, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and possess strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and oversight
- Valid driver’s license for business travel
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- APICS or ISM certifications a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
