UAB Spain Rehabilitation Center is opening an 11-story, state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation pavilion in spring 2025. The new hospital will include 78 rehabilitation beds and the latest technology ndash; all designed to promote functional activity at every turn. Job Description:
To serve as the technical expert for inpatient rehab technology and the point person for outside rehab vendors to facilitate educational in-services on device use, technology new to the rehab market, and purchase/trial of devices. To stay up to date on emerging rehab technology, updates on insurance reimbursement for rehab devices, and educational/training needs of staff related to devices. To serve as a consultant for staff and patients to trial devices during inpatient stay and obtain information about pricing and home setup. To work with rehab managers to ensure DME Coordinators are properly trained. To work with managers to train lead rehab techs to properly adjust rehab technology equipment on their respective floor.
Associate's degree required in Physical Therapist Assistant or Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant required. Two (2) years of experience in rehab, rehab technology, and/or durable medical equipment-related field. Work experience may NOT be substituted for education requirements. Current RESNA (ATP) certification required or must be obtained within two (2) years from date of hire. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or Physical Therapy Assistant certification required.
