UAB Police and Public Safety department seeks an Access Control System Technician I to assist with overseeing the overall physical security, locking devices, alarm, and monitoring systems for all UAB buildings. Assist with the design, installation, testing, servicing and preventative maintenance of all alarm systems, card access systems, Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV), lock hardware and compliance level of electrical codes. Assist with the design, installation and maintenance of keying and security systems as needed. Maintain knowledge of current security devices and department related computer technology.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
middot;Wires circuit boards and terminations for card access systems. Installs wiring and conduit to connectivity for devices, including data jacks for cameras.
middot;Programs IP address and network settings into devices such as cameras, IC boards and video servers
middot;Installs and terminates for all peripheral devices associated with card access and camera systems; including, but not limited to the following: reader heads, magnetic locks, electric strikers, electrified panic devices, motion sensors, door contacts, request to exit buttons, power supplies, IP cameras, analog cameras, panic buttons, POE injectors, timers, and buffer relays.
middot;Installs door hardware and cylinders for keying: including but not limited to deadbolts, cylindrical lever locks, mortise locks, wireless intelligent locks, and push-bar hardware. Combines new cylinders for brass key system. Duplicates keys for the UAB system and various cabinet locks as needed.
middot;Installs digitally communicating alarm systems with keypads and dialers.
middot;Services card access, alarm, camera systems, mechanical locking hardware and key systems.
middot;Performs other duties as assigned.
Starting Hourly Rate: %2417.95
middot;High School diploma or GED and the ability to successfully complete a company provided training program within the first year of hire required and one (1) year of related experience strongly preferred.
middot;Must be at least 21 years of age with three (3) years of driving experience maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
middot;Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
