DIRECTOR-HILL STUDENT CENTER
The Hill Student Center seeks a dynamic Director to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment, positioning the center as the campus's living room. The Director will manage various event spaces, including the Hill Student Center, Amphitheatre, Campus Green, and the Mini Park, covering approximately 675,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor facilities.This role involves providing leadership and direct supervision to a team of 5 full-time professionals and over 40 student staff members, which includes Building Managers, Facilities Team, Information Desk Staff, and Game Room Attendants. As a key member of the Student Affairs Division's Director Team, the Director will collaborate to deliver programs and initiatives that empower students and enhance their experience within UAB facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, oversight, and direction and develops strategies to enhance student engagement and foster a lasting connection
- Serves to forward the comprehensive vision for Hill Student Center, inclusive of effective practices and facility management utilizing industry standards and national benchmarks of successful engagement and operation
- Provides oversight for theeffective use of Hill Student Center while maintaining aschedule of capital projects, improvements, and routine maintenance
- Provides scheduling and operational oversight for Hill Student Center, Amphitheater, Campus Green, and University Mini Park
- Supervises and evaluates professional staff members
- Provides vision for hiring, selection, training, and evaluation of student staff, inclusive of desk staff and set up crew
- Creates, revises, and communicates policies and protocols for theeffective use of and sustainability of Hill Student Center and associated spaces
- Creates seamless protocol for event management from reservation process through actual event execution
- Provide oversight of the software system that is used to administer the room/space scheduling system for the facility
- Creates assessment matrix/dashboard indicators of stakeholder use and satisfaction of services to assist in decision-making and communication
- Develops and manages departmental operational and reserve budget
- Maintains and executes emergency preparedness oversight of thefacility
- Represents the Division of Student Affairs on University committees and capacities as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: %2470,425-%2491,550
Master's degree in Higher Education, Public Administration, Management, College Student Personnel or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
