ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-CAREER CENTER
The University of Alabama at Birmingham - UAB Career Centers seeks a dedicated professional who is passionate about educating and empowering students through career readiness retention efforts. As a member of the Career Education and Advising Team within UAB Career Center, this role will focus on career-related student success initiatives for students. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for empowering students and helping them connect their academic and career aspirations early in their collegiate experience.
Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversees career enhancement/professional development services and programs for all students, alumni, and prospective students
- Professional development programs include career consulting individually and in groups, career education seminars, experiential learning programs, outreach events, career development for-credit courses, career resources, and other similar career development programs and services
- Works with the Career Service Management System (CSM) to establish and facilitate students' accomplishment of career learning objectives
- Develops collaborative relationships with internal/external constituents, creating more awareness of career development and its impact on student development and employability
- Promote mission and contribution to UABrsquo;s Strategic Plan, as well as provide exemplary customer service to all constituents
Salary Range: %2450,000 to %2453,000
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, excellent teamwork capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Building new relationships with faculty members and academic advisors is crucial, as well as enjoying presentations and being involved in team-building activities. The minimum qualifications would be having at least a bachelor's degree and experience working with college-level students. Candidates with a master's degree or pursuing a master's in college student personnel, student affairs, or human resources will be highly regarded. Experience in a Career Center or career coaching is a plus.
