The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Assistant Director of Development to join the UAB School of Nursing Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR). Under the direction of the Senior Director of Development for the School of Nursing, this position is expected to solicit and close a defined number of mid-level gifts in support of the UAB School of Nursing. This includes intentional meetings with unqualified and/or qualified prospects to build and maintain a portfolio of mid-to-high net worth prospects. The Assistant Director of Development will be expected to meet/exceed established metrics on an annual basis ndash; including dollar, visit, solicitations and proposals presented goals.
This Assistant Director of Development will also work closely with ODARrsquo;s Director of Community Engagement and Board Relations and the Senior Director of Development to engage with members of the School of Nursing Board of Visitors and Junior Board of Visitors, including securing corporate and individual sponsorships for their annual fundraising event
This position will report to the Senior Director of Development for the School of Nursing and will be an integral member of the University Advancement team and the School of Nursing Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
This position is hybrid-eligible after the probationary period.
Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with ODARrsquo;s Director of Community Engagement and Board Relations and the Senior Director of Development to engage with members of the School of Nursing Board of Visitors and Junior Board of Visitors, including securing corporate and individual sponsorships for their annual fundraising event
- Execute fundraising strategies to raise mid-level gifts in support of the UAB School of Nursing
- Work with other members of ODAR, the Deanrsquo;s Office, and the University Advancement Services staff to ensure that potential gift prospects are properly researched and assigned, that all solicitations are coordinated and completed, and that donors receive appropriate acknowledgments and recognition
Annual Salary Range: %2452,555 ndash; %2466,000
Bachelor's degree Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement; travel required.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to work competently within CRM
- Intermediate knowledge of fundraising techniques (qualifying, asks, objections, messaging)
- Portfolio development / management
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a high functioning team
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively
- Advanced writing skills
- Presentation skills
- Intermediate project management
- Knowledge of HIPAA-compliant fundraising practices in healthcare philanthropy
