GRANTS & CONTRACTS OFFICER SENIOR
The Grants and Contracts Officer position involves maintaining frequent contact with researchers and project administrators throughout the university and external for-profit funding sources to provide pre-and post-award support in the development, review, and submission of all routine and complex grant and contract funding opportunities for compliance with UAB, state, federal, industry, or sponsor regulations. Additionally, this position involves extensive contract negotiation with the for-profit funding sources.
Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
- Reviews submissions, awards, and other agreements for compliance and provides advice and assistance with sponsor regulations, university policies, state and federal regulations, and laws as they relate to proposals, awards, and other agreements and forms, including but not limited to master, confidentiality agreements and data use agreements, pass-through awards, Veterans
- Administration (VA) Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) forms and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), whether federal, non-profit, or for-profit
- Serves as a primary resource for questions with regard to grants, contracts, and other agreement types; provides technical or topical expertise, information, training, and problem resolution for grant and/or contract-related activities. Serves as the lead on presenting, assisting with, and formulating resolutions
- Identifies and reports potential problems, actions, and policy issues that require clarification or corrective action; follows up on award and modification negotiations when responses have not been forthcoming from faculty or sponsors
- Attends/leads various committee/department meetings
- Reviews processes for efficiencies and assists in process improvements
- Trains and mentors internal and external customers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: %2463,875 - %24103,800 (salary commensurate with experience)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Science, or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, knowledge of PC applications, database knowledge, and data analysis skills are required, and a customer service attitude is imperative.The ability to work as a team is a must; a legal background is helpful.
