About the Job
Summary: The IS Technician supports and maintains in-house end user computing devices, including desktop systems, laptops, smartphones, printers, scanners, and other peripherals. This role involves installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware, operating systems, and software to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, the IS Technician troubleshoots problems in a timely and accurate manner and provides end user training and assistance as required.
Major Function:
- Support and maintain end user computing devices, including desktops, laptops, smartphones, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
- Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade hardware, operating systems, and software.
- Troubleshoot problems promptly and accurately.
- Provide end user training and assistance where required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or technical certification/diploma in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in information technology, preferably in a healthcare environment, or a technical degree/technical certification diploma in Computer Science or related field.
- In-depth knowledge and troubleshooting experience with Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 7, 8.1, 10, 11, and future releases).
- In-depth knowledge and troubleshooting experience with Apple iOS and Android Operating Systems used on smartphones and tablets.
- In-depth knowledge and troubleshooting experience with Microsoft Office (2010, 2013, 2016, and Office 365).
- Experience with desktop/laptop imaging software such as Ghost, ActiveBoot, or PXE.
- Experience with physical ethernet networking, including patching connections and toning out connectivity.
Certification/Licensure:
- CompTIA A+ preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent self-organization and time management skills.
- Proficient in problem identification and problem-solving techniques related to supported end-user hardware, software, and peripherals.
Position Responsibilities:
- Deploy and support workstation operating systems, including Windows 7, 8.1, 10, 11, and future releases.
- Implement software patches, security fixes, and validate modified system configurations.
- Utilize knowledge of Group Policy, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Manage hard drive encryption software and procedures.
- Prioritize and resolve incidents using ticketing software.
- Troubleshoot hardware problems on devices, including PCs, laptops, scanners, printers, faxes, iPods, iPads, cameras, tablets, cell phones, TVs, and medical carts.
- Resolve desktop software-related problems and errors.
- Work with vendors for warranty work and onsite repair of equipment.
- Ensure proper disposal of outdated equipment per HIPAA standards.
- Collaborate with the Network team to deploy new or troubleshoot existing network runs and patches.
- Take on-call duties as required by management.
