The SkyGrid team is looking for a System Safety Engineer to be an integral part of the development process. You'll be responsible for influencing design by identifying risks and minimizing or eliminating hazards. In this role you will interface and support other core engineering functions such as, but not limited to, Systems Engineering, Hardware and Software engineering as well as Human Factors, Ground & Flight Test and Certification.?
The System Safety Engineer will perform a full range of safety analyses in support of FAA and EASA certification of SkyGrid products. These analyses include Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), Common Cause Analysis (CCA), operational safety case, and safety requirement development. The engineer may also be expected to perform some reliability tasks, such as FMECAs and reliability predictions, to meet system safety objectives.?
The engineer will have the opportunity to grow skills and understanding of System Safety Engineering, as well as improve and evolve the System Safety process and methodology. The engineer should be capable of working in a team-oriented, fast paced environment, supporting multiple tasks. Proven communication and presentation skills are required.?
Performance Objectives:
- Develop system level Fault Tree Analyses?
- Support the implementation of Safety Management System?
- Complete detailed Functional Hazard Assessment of SkyGrid systems?
- Identify and create system level safety requirements
- Create first draft of Preliminary System Safety Assessment?
Responsibilities:
- Conduct System Safety Analyses and document results (Functional Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Common Cause Analysis, System Safety Assessment)?
- Represent System Safety Engineering and present results of safety analyses at formal program design reviews
- Develop and maintain Safety Management System?
- Develop and maintain operational safety case
- Work closely with other engineering groups to ensure good safety practices are being implemented across all disciplines.??
- Local and remote candidates will be considered. SkyGrid will issue all Full-time employees a laptop. Remote employees are responsible for acquiring any additional equipment.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in engineering and 3+ years of experience with system safety aspects of aircraft design and certification.?
- Experience performing system safety analyses, including functional hazard assessment and fault tree analysis
- Experience with design safety engineering principles for safety critical systems (SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761)?
- Ability to communicate technical information at all levels of the organization
- You are a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a broad set of skills and never afraid of facing complex technical challenges
- You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results in a timelyfashion

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering or related field?
- Familiarity with applicable industry safety standards such as MIL-STD-217, MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262 etc.?
- Expertise with FAA certification processes and the design of vehicle systems to formal requirements such as Part 23, 25, 27 or similar?
- Experience identifying and developing safety requirements
- Experience working in Agile environment
