About the Job
As a Systems Engineer, you'll be pivotal in safeguarding the security and integrity of our client’s infrastructure. This hands-on role is instrumental in driving the success of our client's overall system reliability and security.
This is a temporary, full-time, Hybrid position that is expected to last approximately 6-8 months. There is a chance of becoming a regular, long-term position.
This role has responsibilities that include working with a government contractor, therefore, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on vulnerability mitigation across a diverse range of technologies, including Enterprise Network Switching (Cisco, Dell, Arista), Firewalls (Cisco ASA), Load Balancers (F5), Dell MX7000 Blade Servers, VMware (6.7 or higher), Microsoft Active Directory, GPO, SCCM, and Linux
- Collaborate with the team to identify and address security vulnerabilities highlighted in Nessus Tenable reports.
- Execute strategies to remediate security findings on both systems and network infrastructure promptly.
- Maintain detailed documentation of findings, remediation efforts, and preventive measures implemented.
- Maintain regular communication with the team, providing daily documentation of work activities, milestones, and any issues encountered.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to immediate issue resolution.
- Evaluate and enhance processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, propose automation, and ensure documentation clarity and compliance with industry standards.
- Hands-on responsibilities include maintaining an accurate inventory of assets, organizing, racking & stacking, cabling, and other support as needed.
- Stay abreast of the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance the overall security posture of the organization.
- In the event of breaking functionality during evening work, the engineer is expected to address and resolve the issue promptly, as well as be available for on-site support as necessary.
- Proficiency in configuring and securing Enterprise Network Switching, Windows Operating System, Active Directory, and firewalls.
- 8-10 years of related experience.
- A valid driver’s license for Local travel is required.
- Current Flu shot and Drug Testing will be required.
- U.S. citizenship is required as this position involves working with a government contractor.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling security findings across diverse technologies, including Linux, Windows, Applications, .Net, etc.
- Proven ability to analyze security issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to adapt to evolving security threats and technologies.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills to record and communicate information effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in hands-on mitigation of vulnerabilities across diverse technologies.
- Proficiency in configuring and securing Enterprise Network Switching, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Blade Servers, VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, GPO, SCCM, and Linux.
- Excellent communication and customer service acumen.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and standards for security.
- Hands-on experience in maintaining an accurate inventory, organizing, racking & stacking, cabling, and on-site support.
- An analytical and collaborative approach to process enhancements.
- Previous experience in effectively working remotely and providing remote support.
- Hold relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or equivalent, preferred.
