Stellar Solutions is searching for a System Engineer to support the development of an operations facility that integrates space and ground elements to prototype new satellite and tactical mission capabilities, demonstrating their scalability and operational utility.
The candidate will support the Program Management Office (PMO) in the execution of the system engineering process, including providing oversight of the milestone and design reviews as well as the requirements management and ICD development and control.
The candidate will be a key contributor to the system engineering team, ensuring that the operations facility meets the needs of the warfighter while delivering a system on schedule and within cost.
Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and has developed technical expertise in the design, development, and integration of ground systems that provide communications, data management, and operations infrastructure needed to support mission operations.
A successful candidate has diversified experience in their field and has demonstrated the ability to formulate solutions to complex engineering challenges.
The candidate is self-directed and will initiate/facilitate collaborative discussions with teammates and customers.
The candidate thrives in a fast-paced, agile development environment, applying advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems, while also helping define system engineering processes that ensure successful execution of the program and delivery of the system that achieves the mission requirements.
In this role, the successful candidate will:
• Support the Program Manager and the Chief Engineering in the overall System Engineering of the program from day one - including preparing, coordinating, and presenting SE status and technical results at program milestone reviews and monthly progress meetings.
• Assist in the day-to-day technical decision and direction activities for the program, including leading action item responses and formulation of responses to customer requests as directed by the Chief Engineer and the Program Manager.
• Support the Requirements Management activities by helping to perform requirements analysis, decomposition and allocation from customer TRD down to the system and segments.
Assist in tracking and reporting requirements management status including and changes being requested.
• Support development of the architecture description, models, and other architecture products in an agile development environment while meeting mission requirements.
• Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy-oral and written.
• Support a customer committed to the rapid development of mission capabilities that meet the evolving needs of the warfighter.
Required skills:
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience on space and ground system development programs for the DoD or IC.
• System engineering experience in the development of ground architectures and cloud environments, including an excellent understanding of design for test and ops.
• Understanding of operational environments and corresponding mission user needs.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to develop and recommend solutions for problems/issues.
• Experience with Integrated Master Schedules, and risk management.
• Experience with agile development programs and methodologies.
Desired skills:
• Ten (10) years of relevant experience on space and ground system development programs for the DoD or IC.
• Extensive experience in cloud environment systems and/or management of ground resources, such as ground entry points (GEP).
Education
• Relevant BS in Eng or related STEM degree (MS preferred).
Clearance:
• Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility.
• Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment and willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph.
Location The primary work location is Colorado Springs, CO, while other potential work locations may be considered for the right candidate, e.g., Chantilly, VA.
The position is full-time and will require travel up to 25% of time within the continental United States.
Compensation: The typical pay range for this position is USD $180,000 - $204,000 per year, total package.
Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, and a full benefits package including a significant profit-sharing retirement savings plan.
Deliverable(s) Deliverables will be in the format of reports, briefings, spreadsheets, or other documents as directed by the Government, using contractor and/or government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction.
