POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Systems Engineer - Senior will provide technical support and advice in a classified systems Program Management Office (PMO) on current and future program design, development, procurement, testing, and fielding of classified systems for unique platforms. You will provide technical support and advice on current and future activities including program office studies and initiatives. You will review, advises, and shape program initiatives, studies, demonstrations, and programs to meet current and future USAF capability needs. You will provide systems engineering process support to include requirements development, Statement of Work (SOW) development, System Requirements Document (SRD) development, System, Subsystem Requirements (SSS) and Requirements Traceability review and assessments. You will actively monitor and provide material direction influencing vendor design, development, test, data analysis and deficiency identification. You will evaluate systems functionality and performance and provide assessments and verification of system maturity and capabilities in meeting SSS design criteria as well as verification of system functionality and performance in meeting MAJCOM mission capability requirements. You will provide risk assessments, deficiency identification and root cause determination and corrective action approval. You will evaluate systems functionality and performance and provide assessments and verification of system maturity and capabilities in meeting SSS design criteria as well as verification of system functionality and performance in meeting MAJCOM mission capability requirements. You will provide risk assessments, deficiency identification and root cause determination and corrective action approval. You will build reports and briefings on the status of systems, collaborate with the PMO Chief Engineer, brief configuration management boards, program office leadership, Milestone Decision Authority, and end user decision makers. You will assess vendor proposals, approve vendor preliminary and critical designs, and evaluate system maturity from Technical Maturation and Risk Reduction through Engineering and Manufacturing Development acquisition phases. You will execute Functional and Physical Configuration Audits supporting system and subsystem verification and validation. You will work with outside organizations such as platform MAJCOMS, platform squadrons, RCO, DARPA, AFRL, AFOTEC, MAJCOM OT organizations, and test ranges to define “art of the possible” capabilities and support the program office in selecting those capabilities that are best suited to improve survivability and lethality of current and future tip of the spear platforms, both acknowledged and unacknowledged. This position requires 100 percent in-person work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base with options to flex schedule.
The candidate shall have Systems Engineering experience within a US Air Force, Army or Navy acquisition Program Management Office (PMO) or comparable Military Industrial Complex environment. The candidate shall have experience with the acquisition process and DoD 5000.02 and all applicable acquisition, systems engineering, and acquisition program management processes. Candidate shall have a working knowledge of aerodynamics, structures, electronics, and electronic warfare concepts and capabilities, testing, and evaluation of capabilities as applied to developmental technical maturity and operational employment. The candidate shall have experience in areas relating to acquisition policy matters including acquisition streamlining, integrated weapon systems management, test and evaluation, systems engineering, manning, best practices and lessons learned to independently provide engineering support to senior program engineering and program managers.

Responsibilities:Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
• Assist in translating warfighter capabilities requirement into system development requirements which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test, evaluate, verify, validate, produce and field weapons systems subsystems and systems capabilities.
• Perform technical and mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements to support customer programs and projects.
• Assist in developing subsystem concepts and perform technological/trade-off assessment of proposed designs/modifications.
• Provide technical and programmatic feedback and advice, develop, and present technical briefings, and develop acquisition products and strategies in support of PMO project/program managers, milestone decision authorities, and senior US Air Force decision makers.
• Provide support for risk management and configuration control processes.
• Assessment of related Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), DARPA, RSO and other technology initiatives to guide investments and shape transition strategies to keep a viable technology base available to support systems development.
• Develop systems engineering documents (Capability Design Document, System Requirements Document, Statement of Work) and manage systems engineering processes for platforms and projects across the PMO portfolio.
• Provide technical and programmatic feedback and advice; develops and presents technical briefings; and develops acquisition products and strategies in support of PMO activities.
• Provide support for management and implementation of airworthiness, risk management, obsolescence tracking, operational safety and suitability evaluation, and configuration control processes in support of the Program Office.
• Assess technical adequacy of contractor delivered procedures, products, and reports (System-Subsystem Specification, Requirements Verification Traceability, etc..), verify data rights acceptability, log data deliverables, and disseminate products to other government and industry stakeholders as required.
• Provides assessments of technical maturity of performance and define development program to mature and integrate into current payloads.
• Plan and execute Functional and Physical Configuration Audits (FCA and PCA)
• Provide excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to articulate technical ideas to stakeholders.
• Ability to independently turn ideas and concepts into tangible outcomes with minimum oversight.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant Department of Defense (DoD) or Military Industrial Complex work experience.
• No less than three (3) years’ experience in the last five (5) years in a Special Access Program (SAP) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment (waiverable)
Desired Requirements:
• Background in Electronic Warfare system development, test, and/or employment
• Strong data reduction and analysis expertise.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
• ME/MS degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics

• Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
