Job DescriptionThe Systems Engineer II, based in Somerset, NJ, is a multifaceted role requiring an in-depth understanding of BEUMER products and applications. This position is responsible for analyzing customer requirements, developing innovative solutions, and overseeing the design process using 2D and 3D CAD. Additionally, the Systems Engineer II collaborates with Sales, Engineering, and Software/Controls departments to ensure the success of system designs. The Systems Engineer II is responsible for producing technical documents, such as proposals and process flows, and actively participates in client meetings and calls.
Key Responsibilities:
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Become an expert in BEUMER products and applications.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and developments.
Requirements Analysis and Solution Development:
- Understand customer requirements and business objectives and recommend appropriate products and solutions to meet their needs.
- Analyze customer requirements to identify system design needs.
- Develop innovative solutions using 2D and 3D CAD.
- Customize and configure products to meet customer-specific requirements, including developing prototypes, conducting feasibility studies, and performing testing and validation.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Software/Controls departments to design and develop effective system solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, providing pre-sales and post-sales support throughout the sales process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software Developers, Project Managers, and operations staff to ensure successful project delivery.
Cost Estimation and Vendor Management:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for system solutions.
- Manage vendor responses to RFPs and developing detailed cost estimates.
Technical Documentation:
- Produce technical documents, including proposals, process flows, user manuals, and application notes, to support customers in the use and implementation of our products and solutions.
Process Development:
- Develop tools and assist in process development as needed.
Client Engagement:
- Attend client meetings and calls as necessary.
Sales Support:
- Work with Sales to transition proposals to orders.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in logistic systems and supply chain management.
Special Projects and Other Duties:
- Perform special projects and other assigned duties as required.
Key Requirements and Professional Attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- 2-5 years of experience in technical sales or engineering
- Strong time management and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High computer literacy in MS Office Suite
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling with preferred experience in AutoCAD and SolidEdge
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Active listening for customer satisfaction and technical insight
- Preferred experience automated systems, and MS Excel/VBA programming
- Ability to set and meet goals, care for others, and work collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to travel as per business needs. Estimated travel is 10-15%.
