GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Systems Engineer I builds, maintains, monitors and audits on-premise application installations. This may include, but is not limited to, ensuring security standards are applied, troubleshooting, implementing new solutions and participating on projects to upgrade components or whole systems. Follows recommended architecture standards related to on-premise applications. Participates in on-call rotations, as needed, and typically takes direction from more senior members of the team during daily development efforts, system maintenances and instances of system failures. Serves on project teams that supports the planning and implementation of new systems or functions and ensures that application maintenance and upgrades are delivered on-time and with quality.
**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Analyzes use case requirements, design solutions and deploys on-premise or cloud-based infrastructure. Demonstrates knowledge of on-premise virtual infrastructure, specifically in clustered high availability environments. Assists in integrating on-premise solutions with cloud solutions. Deploys solutions hosted on both cloud services and on-premise infrastructure.
+ Performs proactive performance monitoring, analysis, alerting, reporting and tuning. Prepares capacity analyses and provision solutions. Completes maintenance activities including deploying patches and ensuring that firmware and software are up to date.
+ Prepares incident and problem analysis reports, resolves and completes follow-up tasks to ensure platform stability. Escalates when appropriate.
+ Performs implementation and maintenance activities during business hours as well as outside of business hours. Serves in 24-hour on-call rotations when scheduled.
+ Maintains an interoperability Matrix in order to ensure cross-vendor compatibility. Creates and maintains technical documentation including solution designs and reference guides. Evaluates new products and services that will help enhance the delivery of infrastructure services. Prepares necessary paperwork and documentation to ensure conformance to University standards and procedures.
+ Maintains a broad knowledge of technology, equipment, and/or systems. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
+ Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Data Science, Engineering preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
+ 3 years of related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience in higher education field and/or a healthcare environment preferred.
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
+ Ability to participate in on-call rotations required
+ Ability to learn new technologies quickly and help team members embrace technology change required
+ Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results preferred
+ Strong understanding of system/application administration activities preferred
+ Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL or related database experience preferred
+ Solid understanding of Web Server, App Server and Database interactivities preferred
+ Solid understanding of application infrastructure and architecture preferred
+ Experience with interface, networking, design, and relational database technologies preferred
+ Experience supporting Cloud and on premises applications preferred
+ Experience with multi-tier applications employing application and web servers preferred
+ Experience with project management from planning through implementation preferred
+ Knowledge and experience in patient facing clinical systems such as EPIC/Meditech EMR, ViewPoint, Philips iECG Intellispace, Sentinel Spacelab, GE Muse, Philips Stress System ST80i preferred

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $68,765 - $103,147 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
