Responsibilities
The Foundation GEOINT (FG) Mission Planning project provides process engineering for FG mission sets, including Safety of Navigation (maps, charts, and publications for navigation in the air and on the seas) and foundational data which includes topographic, elevation, geodetic information, and more, all of which help us describe the world in which we live.
The FG MP Project has the need for an engineer to work on a highly collaborative team to develop business process artifacts to meet customer objectives. Reporting to the FG MP Project Lead, the engineer is accountable for processes definition, project management, Visio modeling, technical documentation, and a high level of customer engagement and team collaboration. Excellent oral and written communication and interviewing skills are critical, in order to successfully gather information by interviewing stakeholders who perform the mission and have strategic visions for the future and translate this information into high-value artifacts for the customer.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Develop proficiency in mission and processes across areas of Foundation GEOINT in order to analyze, improve, and maintain them.
- Perform Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) model development and demonstrate experience with defining and analyzing business processes in the form of process models, diagrams, and scenarios.
- Work with customers and existing documentation to determine mission and needs and translate them into business processes.
- Work on problems/projects where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of business processes and improving existing processes.
- Analyze and assess customer business models and plans, and provide recommendations for efficiency improvements
- Assist in the translation of architectural or strategic concepts into the development of future processes and business strategy
- Work across multiple tasks, as both a lead and a support engineer, in the development of key process engineering products
- Collaborate with multiple customer stakeholder groups, to include development teams and other engineering teams
- Identify opportunities for the timely use of business process engineering to enhance engineering and integration activities
- Integrate FG Data Domains and agency initiatives into the future architecture

Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
- A minimum of 6 years of technical experience is required. If this experience is as a Systems Engineer, it may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 6 years of working experience in government or industry in relevant work areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
- A minimum of 6 years of system engineering experience in government or industry.
- TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly.
Desired:
- Experience with NGA or its IC partners
- Knowledge of any of the FG Data Domains / Mission Areas
- Strong analysis, quality assessment, oral & written communications skills
- Proficiency in word processing, technical and narrative writing, documentation analysis and review
- Experience managing and facilitating technical exchange meetings and client engagements, to include deep dive working sessions to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated ability to work independently (self-managing) & within a team environment
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences
- Ability to identify technology gaps in capabilities and processes
- Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering, processes, tools and languages.
- Working knowledge of Software Development Frameworks.
- INCOSE Associate System Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification.
- Documented work experience in the field of geospatial intelligence.
- Membership or active participation in any of the following professional organizations:
- ACSM
- ASCE
- ASPRS
- OGC
- SAREM
- USGIF
- Working knowledge of photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, information sciences, geographic information systems, geomatics, or related fields.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the current NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises.
- Working knowledge of NGA data, systems and architecture related to, but not limited to, the following GEOINT realms:
- NGA FG Requirements Management
- Political Boundaries
- Controlled Imagery
- Elevation Modeling
- Topographic Modeling
- Human Geography
- Aeronautical Safety of Navigation
- Maritime Safety of Navigation
- Geodesy and Geophysics
