Systems Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The position reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure and will be expected to play a crucial role in designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining the organization's on-premises and cloud IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of in-depth technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex IT infrastructure, completing IT projects, and completing merger & acquisition IT systems integrations.
Responsibilities:
- System Design and Implementation:
- Assist with the design, planning, and implementation of complex IT systems and solutions based on business requirements.
- Assist with evaluating and recommending appropriate technologies to achieve organizational goals.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Manage and maintain the organization's cloud-based systems, on-premises infrastructure, server-based applications, network, storage systems, and endpoints.
- Collaborate with the business, IT team, third-party vendors, and hosting providers to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
- Proactively work to improve reliability, stability, and security of the cloud and on-premises environments.
- Proactively work to maintain and improve optimal performance of infrastructure systems.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide advanced level 3 technical support for complex issues related to systems, networks, and applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, collaborating with cross-functional teams as necessary.
- Analyze root causes of recurring problems and implement preventive measures.
- Project Management:
- Participate in IT projects, from planning and design to implementation and documentation.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate project tasks and collaborate with team members to ensure successful project completion.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement security best practices to safeguard systems and data from cyber threats.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities.
- Automation and Scripting:
- Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline system administration tasks.
- Leverage scripting languages to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with IT teams, including helpdesk, network, cybersecurity, and partners to ensure seamless IT operations.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing
Education
- High school diploma or GED is required; some college experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology from an accredited college or university in a related discipline. In the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in an IT System Administrator or Systems Engineering role, where a number of years, proven knowledge, and certifications may offset the degree requirement
Experience & Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong system automation and scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of workstation, server, and mobile device operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android).
- Strong endpoint and mobile device platform management skills (NinjaOne, Microsoft Intune, MaaS360).
- Strong knowledge of workstation, server, and mobile device security patch management for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android endpoints and more.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, etc.).
- Strong cloud platform knowledge, administration, and management skills (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Amazon AWS, etc.).
- Strong Identity Management skills (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Active Directory).
- Strong Microsoft Active Directory knowledge, design, administration, and integration skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy implementation and administration.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) system evaluations and integrations.
- Strong foundational knowledge of networking (Firewalls, SD-WAN, VPNs, VLANs, etc.)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, drug screen and E-verify
Travel
Travel for this position is less than 10%
