Job Description: Test Engineer Onboard Autonomy Systems
We are seeking a Test Engineer to join our Autonomy team at the Mossville BB Test Track. This position plays a crucial role in the ongoing development and testing of our autonomous vehicle systems, particularly in our Command for Hauling program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct safety checks and test new software features or issue fixes for autonomous systems.
- Create and execute test cases, document new issues, and ensure software meets all requirements through comprehensive functional testing.
- Regularly update software and prepare vehicles for daily testing activities.
Typical Day:
- Participate in daily huddles at 8 AM, followed by task preparations and testing at the test track.
- Interact with team members both in-person at the track and virtually via Teams meetings, chats, and emails.
- Spend significant time in test vehicles conducting hands-on testing and validations.
Work Environment:
- Assigned desk at the office on the test track with field work in test vehicles.
- Required personal protective equipment includes steel-toed shoes; safety vest and glasses provided.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in testing and validation of complex systems (vehicles or heavy equipment).
- Valid drivers license and comfort with operating SUV/pickup-sized vehicles.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with CAN protocols, Linux OS, and in-vehicle validation.
- Strong experience in creating and executing detailed test cases.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Ethernet protocols, Autonomous systems, and Vehicle Control systems.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills are essential for effective team collaboration and documentation.
Disqualifiers:
- Lack of driving experience.
