Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Systems Administrator in Salem Virginia at our corporate headquarters. The Systems Administrator is responsible for user setup, license application, and general support of the organization's IT systems, including the timely activation/deactivation of user accounts for a multitude of business systems. The Systems Administrator ensures the availability, security, and license compliance of IT systems while providing technical support to users and addressing system-related challenges. Seeking candidates with previous experience configuring/troubleshooting a combination of enterprise-specific or custom-built software applications. Previous experience working with remote users, distributed teams, software and support vendors.
Requirements for the Systems Administrator position include:
- Must have detailed understanding of organizational setups, security groups, access control lists and account privileges.
- Must have practical understanding of computer hardware/software setup and configuration.
- Must have a detailed understanding of software licensing models particularly the Microsoft subscription licensing models for multiple products and services.
- Must have practical understanding of computer hardware/software setup and configuration.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in setting up and maintaining role-based security groups.
- Must have a strong understanding of Cyber Security Principles and how they are implemented.
- Proficiency in Identity/authentication services and Microsoft Entra ID concepts.
- Must be proficient with MS-Office products.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have practical understanding of software troubleshooting techniques.
- Must be highly analytical, have a passion for details, and be capable of translating analytical insights into action.
- Must be able to effectively resolve issues in a timely manner using sound judgement, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and influencing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize (with changing priorities), multi-task, address issues quickly and professionally, and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
- Must be able to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess ability to train users in the use of software and technology.
- Must be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to non-technical users.
- Must be able to work effectively, both independently and in team settings.
- Must be willing to travel to other locations and conduct on premise training sessions.

Physical requirements must be met for the Systems Administrator job, including is regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is periodically moving/pushing/transporting 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
