Our work depends on a TS/SCI-cleared Sr Systems Administrator (Ops 24x7) joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Springfield, VA.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Shift Hours: Sundays-Wednesdays (alternating), 5:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
- Manage the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
- Monitor data center operations, including virtual infrastructure, local area networking, storage solutions, databases, and more across multiple sites.
- Identify, analyze, triage, and resolve system alerts indicating issues with data center components.
- Conduct hands-on administration of virtual machines and devices using vCenter, remote desktop protocols, and other virtualized management interfaces.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with virtualization environments, including Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Provide systems diagnostics, availability monitoring, and escalation services for incidents.
- Record and track configuration changes through Configuration Change Control Boards.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational reporting protocols to communicate system and network health.
- Interact with vendors to coordinate hardware maintenance and replacements for high-criticality systems.
- Provide first-response technical support for all technical engineering lanes within the data center.
What you will bring to us (Required Skills)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, or work experience.
- 5-8 years of directly related systems administration experience, preferably with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Technical expertise in virtualization administration (e.g., VMware).
- 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Data Center Operations, Network Operations Center (NOC) Operations, Enterprise-Level Network Monitoring, or Virtual Infrastructure Monitoring.
- Strong understanding of Operations and Sustainment support for virtualization environments.
- Security+ certification (minimum) to meet DoD 8140 compliance requirements.
