About the Job
Kros-Wise is looking for a Systems Administrator to support the corporate team at our company headquarters in San Marcos, CA. The Sys admin is responsible for the configuration, integration, configuration control, operations, maintenance, sustainment of IT system resources, hardware, software, peripherals, and data-store assets. The candidate for this position will:
- Coordinate, schedule, and perform the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, data-store, and applications software.
- Install and configure system fixes, updates, patches, and performance tuning, hardware/software interface and interoperability problem resolution, system security evaluation and remediation, IT device security monitoring, incident reporting, system scanning and security control verification, desktop, server, and peripheral hardware and software customer support, file share access and structure management, complex technical analysis, trouble-shooting, system research, design, implementation, and adaptation of state-of-the-art technology.
- Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources
- Manage the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and Uninterrupted Power System (UPS)
- Manage network infrastructure including switch configurations, racks, and cable plant
- Perform troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
- Establish, maintain, and manage user's accounts
- Ensure that records of system downtime or other significant events are documented
- Ensure equipment inventory is properly maintained
- Responsible for documenting system status with respect to security.
- Responsible for ensuring systems are in compliance with Cyber security regulations such as STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), SRGs (Security Requirements Guides), and IAVs (Information Assurance Vulnerabilities).
- Provide timely communications on system availability, performance issues, and outages
- Cybersecurity and networking focus (NIST 800-171 and related standards).
- Familiarity with NFTables, VMWare NSX, and various east/west + north/south cyber monitoring and exception alerting processes.
- Able to pass a background check and provide e-Verify documentation needed along with agreeing to US Gov NDAs for access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Configure new servers both Windows and Linux for two networks utilizing vSphere and user machines with windows 10.
- Configure Firewall policies to allow for specialized programs and services.
- Provide inputs for optimizing deployment across segregated WiFi networks and enclaves, VMware (ESXI & vSphere), RHEL, Windows (2021, 10), Mac OS, Printers, Networking, and Firewalls and physical security, Dell Servers, hardware trouble shooting, Adobe, Specialized CAD systems, Trend Micro.
- Update and adapt DNS in BIND for both Linux and Windows domains
- Adapt logging (syslog) and analysis tools to ensure system health and maintenance management.
- Run security analyses and remediation as directed, specifically regarding the STIGs for various systems and software.
- Support the installation and maintenance of several IDS/IPS devices.
- Support various internal projects and users utilizing both internal and external systems for all departments.
- Support client-server architecture for security policy management as directed and post extensive research.
- Support COOP images for disaster recover drills and expansion activities.
- Conduct vulnerability scanning of networks and perform remediation and repairs
- Work with various vendors regarding various technical issues for both customer and server level requests (Zimbra, Windows, VMware, RHEL, Fortinet, Open-source, Trend Micro)
- Create technical documentation regarding updates, fixes, processes/methods for all systems listed above.
- Assist with various parts of cybersecurity audits regarding the documentation and infrastructure implementation.
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance
- BS Degree in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred
- CompTIA Security+ a plus
- 3+ years of work experience in complex systems design, programming, and systems software and support
- Experience and training in MS Windows Server 2012/2016 and the different role such as Active Directory, Files Services, DNS Server, and Web Server.
- Proficient with MS Windows Server 2012/16 and VMware administration. System administrator should know how to clone servers, spin-up new virtual servers, and add resources to a virtual server.
- Experience with networking equipment and protocols, enterprise backup, recovery procedures, system performance monitoring tools
- Experience with Linux (Redhat), HBSS, ACAS
