Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:What We’re Looking For:
Get ready to take your career to the next level with Iridium’s Systems Administrator I position! If you have experience with DevOps, Agile methodology, software development processes, Windows and/or Linux, we want you to join our Infrastructure Build team! As a Systems Administrator, you will play a critical role in helping your team build out systems to support Iridium’s internal and external services and functions, utilizing your unique knowledge and skills to collaborate with an amazing team on designated technical projects and internal efforts. You will also have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in Linux, VMware, UCS, and other systems/platforms, gaining valuable experience that will take your career to the next level. What You’ll Do:
- Contribute to the team repsonsible for designing, building and documenting development and production operations systems for Linux/Windows compute and storage environments
- Collaborate with different teams to support the development of systems for multiple projects
- Assist in the development and maintenance of IT Documents (diagrams, procedures, etc.)
- Assist the team in gathering requirements for compute and storage needs
- Provide coverage/support for peers on the Engineering and Operations teams. Serve as an escalation point as needed.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related program of study, OR equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- General experience in the DevOps process and Agile workflows
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
- Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
- The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
- Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
- A motivation to achieve outcomes and results
- Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
- An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- Relevant technical certifications (i.e., CompTIA, MSCE, etc.)
- General experience in administering and maintaining VMware, Windows and/or Linux
- Previous experience in a datacenter/telecommunications environment – working with Enterprise-level hardware
We’ll also need you to:
- Be able to travel up to 10%
- Be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes 2 days in the office and 3 days from home
- Be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Be a US citizen
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
