About the team and what we'll build together
As a valued member of our developer community, you play a large role understanding pain-points in the market and translating business problems and requirements into working software that supports some of the world's most well-known brands and their customers.
Who You Are + What You'll Do:
You are a System Operator who has solid experience providing support of all system processing and applications. You are the front-line support for our client environments. You control and operate in a space of fidelity, meticulousness, and care. You will be responsible for maintaining job automation, executing ad-hoc batch jobs, application/code deployments, file transfers and SQL scripts, as well as performing first-level troubleshooting and support for Windows Server and Linux environments, which includes reviewing logs, system and application monitoring, maintenance, and patch management.
Your Day to Day:
- Part of a team responsible for 24x7 problem resolution for all environments in areas of system expertise and authority to escalate as necessary.
- Monitors both system and application availability and performance information to ensure the efficient operation of all systems including database, application, and web servers using tools like New Relic, Pingdom, Nagios, and others.
- Monitors, maintains, and provides first-level troubleshooting of job and process automation using tools like Skybot/Automate Scheduler or ActiveBatch, as well as scripting tools like BASH, Windows Batch, PowerShell, etc.
- Execute ad-hoc processing of file transfers, encryption/decryption, job automation or SQL scripts based on need.
- Execute application/code deployments through automation tools, such as Bitbucket and Bamboo.
- General Maintenance/Troubleshooting - Reviewing/Maintaining Logs, Completing/Validating System Patches, maintain documentation/runbooks, and follow best practices for system administration.
- Help provide solutions for problems/goals based on knowledge and experience. Work with other groups for assistance in escalations and incident response, triage, and resolution, as well as collaboration with others for handoff/assistance.
- Work with System Administrators to maintain operating system and application current patch levels on all servers.
- Maintenance of the Microsoft Active Directory Users and Groups. This includes maintaining network users, mail accounts, directories, and security.
- Manage Service/Problem tickets (JIRA) promptly and with proper time entry.
- Work within Company change control and IT security policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience to Be Successful in This Role:
- 1-2 years of experience of production application/middleware operations experience in multi-server, multi-OS environment.
- 1-2 years of systems operation or administration in multi-server enterprise environments (On-premises and Cloud). Windows and Linux environments.
- Experience with PostgreSQL (Windows and Linux)
- Experience with on-premises and/or cloud virtualization platforms, i.e., vCenter/vSphere, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure.
- Basic understanding of:
- Active Directory - Ability to create/manage users and groups
- Cloud Concepts - Public/private cloud & products (OCI, Azure, AWS, & VMware), Object Storage, VM Instance Management, etc.
- Networking concepts of IP Addressing, Subnetting, HTTP/HTTPS, LDAP/LDAPS, Email/SMTP, SFTP/FTP, SSH, RDP, load balancers, and DNS (maintaining)
- Scripting - Working knowledge and ability to execute, update, and troubleshoot. BASH, DOS Batch, PowerShell, Ansible (general knowledge), SQL (general knowledge)
- Kubernetes Environments and how they function is a plus
- Antivirus/Malware – Maintain, Monitor, and Troubleshoot (Sophos/SentinelOne)
- Time management and solid organization skills
- Ability to interact well with employees at various levels, vendors, and customers
- Team-focused mentality, with a focus on communication, collaboration, process improvement and standardization.

- Experience navigating or administering both Windows & Linux server environments.
- Experience using Skybot/Automate Scheduler, ActiveBatch or other automation tools/programs, file transfer applications, such as ipSwitch/CrushFTP products, as well as Cloud server environments, such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
- Experience utilizing APM & Infrastructure monitoring tools, such as New Relic, Dynatrace, SolarWinds IPMonitor, or others.
- Experience using code deployment automation tools, such as Bitbucket and Bamboo.
Education:
- Graduation from a 2-year technical school with a degree in electronics, networking, a closely related degree, or equivalent experience
- Preferred certifications in CompTIA A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or Linux Certified Systems Administrator.
