System Engineer - StaffBright

StaffBright is seeking a Systems Engineer II for a client near Southfield, MI. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in data center technologies, including server management, virtualization, networking, and storage. Familiarity with supporting internally developed applications is highly preferred.

What You Will Be Doing

• Managing Data Center Technologies

  Utilize your expertise in servers, virtualization, networking, and storage systems to support and optimize IT infrastructure.

  
  

• Administering IT Systems

  Oversee the administration of servers (virtual and physical), network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers), storage systems, backup solutions, and Active Directory to ensure smooth operation and security.

  
  

• Maintaining Virtual Environments

  Manage virtual server environments, ensuring reliability and scalability to meet organizational needs.

  
  

• Implementing Enterprise Storage Solutions

  Handle enterprise-level storage systems, focusing on capacity planning, performance, and data integrity.

  
  

• Managing Cloud and Application Solutions

  Work with cloud computing platforms, such as Azure, to administer resources and integrate application solutions like IIS and JBoss servers.

  
  

• Enhancing Automation and Efficiency

  Leverage skills in scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and tools like Terraform to streamline processes, automate tasks, and optimize system performance.

  
  

What We Need From You

To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and skills:

• Knowledge and experience in data center technology such as servers, virtualization, network, and storage management.
• 5 years of related work experience in: Virtual server environments, enterprise storage, networking, firewalls, cloud computing, application solutions, or Microsoft directory services.
• Ability to administer: server (virtual & physical), network (router, switch, firewall, load balancer), storage, backup, and Active Directory.

All-Star Skillset

The ideal candidate will also have experience with at least one or more of the following:

• Proficiency in Azure administration and resource management or Azure certifications
• Experience with Terraform authoring and execution.
• Familiarity with IIS and JBoss application servers.
• Shell scripting skills – “PowerShell”
