Background:
This position supports the discovery, implementation, and sustainment of a ServiceNow suite for a dedicated Department of Defense (DoD) community with significant leadership visibility. The System Administrator will serve as a key member of the ServiceNow implementation team, ensuring the platform is configured, maintained, and optimized to meet the needs of the program. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform, a proactive approach to system administration, and a commitment to ensuring operational excellence and compliance with DoD requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance of the ServiceNow platform, ensuring optimal performance and availability
- Configure ServiceNow modules, workflows, forms, fields, and integrations to meet business requirements
- Monitor and troubleshoot system issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime
- Manage and maintain user accounts, roles, and permissions to ensure appropriate access controls
- Support implementation efforts by assisting with the configuration, testing, and deployment of ITSM, ITOM, HAM, SAM, and HRSD modules
- Implement and manage platform upgrades, patches, and hotfixes, ensuring minimal disruption to end-users
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to implement enhancements and support new requirements
- Maintain and enforce best practices for configuration management, documentation, and system security
- Develop and execute reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to monitor platform health and usage
- Provide training and support to end-users and ensure effective knowledge transfer
- Assist in compliance efforts, ensuring the platform adheres to DoD security frameworks, including RMF, NIST 800-171, and CMMC
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a ServiceNow System Administrator or similar role
- Experience with ServiceNow ITSM is required; experience with ITOM, HAM, SAM, or HRSD modules is a plus
- Experience working in DoD or federal environments is preferred
- Certifications:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required
- Additional certifications in ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD) are highly desirable
- ITIL certification is a plus
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, configuration, and administration
- Proficiency with ServiceNow scripting (e.g., JavaScript, Glide API) and system integrations (e.g., REST/SOAP APIs)
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or ServiceNow Agile Development
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of supporting technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Clearance:
- Active Security clearance required; eligibility for higher-level clearance is a plus
