JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior System Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage overall administration of large enterprise Microsoft Active Directory Systems in 5,000 plus size environment
- Oversee Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft server technologies, VMware infrastructure, and end-user software, ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
- Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple MSSQL databases, and during data transfer, in compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and purchases in alignment with SDLC methodologies.
- Collaborate with vendors to develop implementation plans for new systems and applications, define custom scripts, test procedures, and coordinate project directions and schedules to optimize customer impact.
- Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.
- Lead problem-solving efforts involving internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
- Provide third-level technical support for system-related issues in collaboration with other IT professionals and users.
- Perform and test routine system backups and restores using Veritas Backup Exec and Veeam. Develop and implement procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems, host-based applications, backup tape retention, and off-site storage.
- Provide on-the-job guidance and technical advice to lower-level system administrators in resolving day-to-day operational issues and complex system issues.
- Create required reports in response to business user needs.
- Establish and maintain documentation and standards.
- Understand and maintain service management strategies that align with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
- Coordinate with project teams to provide technical guidance to project managers and system designers. Assist in developing project plans and implementations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in information systems or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Certifications in MCSE/MCSA, VCP, or VCA are a plus.
- At least 10 years of experience in a senior technical position responsible for managing server environments.
- Strong experience with Cloud technologies and solutions (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, Office 365).
- Proficiency in Windows Server platforms and strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL relational databases.
- Advanced Active Directory and Group Policy administration in multi-domain environments.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows Server, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SCCM, MS Exchange, MS Lync 2013, Citrix.
- Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment and network skills, including VLAN, layer 2 & 3 routing architecture, and firewalls.
- Strong knowledge of virtualized environments: VMware vSphere.
- Experience with data management and administration of Enterprise Level SAN.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash.
- Experience with hardware platforms: Client, MobileIron, Proofpoint, F5, NetScaler.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required.
- Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
- Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
- Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
