Job Description
The High-Performance Computing (HPC) System Administrator furthers the research goals of our scientists by supporting, maintaining, and improving our HPC Infrastructure and Operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and guidance for Linux cluster (engineering, installation, configuration, upgrade, documentation, maintenance, problem resolution, etc.)
- Perform hardware and software maintenance and upgrades for large HPC environments
- Monitor system performance and troubleshooting problems
- Provide input to service strategies supported by the HPC team
- Evaluate new and emerging technologies related to HPC and scientific computing
- Implement changes and security controls in a global framework
Job Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent skills with work experience
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on Linux experience in infrastructure support (networking, storage, monitoring, automation scripting)
- Expertise in HPC technologies such as high-performance files systems (e.g., GPFS, Lustre), high-speed intra-connection (e.g., Infiniband, Fibre Channel), GPU computing, and batch scheduling software suites (e.g. Slurm, TORQUE)
- Experience providing technical support (installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade, retirement, problem resolution, etc.) for HPC class hardware (e.g., Cray, IBM, HPE)
- Familiarity with containers, virtualization, or cloud technologies
- Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills
- Self-motivated and driven to learn
- Works well in a team environment supporting researchers and scientists
