POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: All official drafts, documents, and recommendations, as listed below, must be reviewed, finalized, and approved / accepted by appropriate BPA manager or other federal personnel with the authority to do so.
With oversight and approval from the BPA Manager or Technical Lead, use professional level skills/ knowledge to perform development and system administration of systems, including the following:
General / Application specific Support
With guidance from various systems team leads, perform system administration including:
Configure and support applicable software and systems.
Installing/updating/removing software
Applying change control processes and procedures
Troubleshooting and resolving issues
Implement and support Software deployment.
PowerShell Scripting and Automation
Java Scripting and development
Managing Scheduled Tasks
Analyzing, implementing, and reporting the operational compliance of all control center cyber assets
Validating hardware and infrastructure design specifications
Assisting in technical design
Provide support in managing employee permissions and digital identities.
Act as a point-of-contact to troubleshoot application issues.
Maintain application documentation as it relates to BPA-specific implementation of this application.
Communicate technically with software developers.
Identify any areas of risk regarding the accomplishment of assignments. Inform BFTE staff and the project manager so that appropriate actions can be taken in a timely manner.
Monitor and verify system availability to meet service level agreements.
Provide advice and assistance to customers, troubleshoot complex problems, and provide support in a manner that minimizes interruptions in customers' ability to carry out business activities.
Windows Server Support
Support the installation and maintenance of high availability servers hosting this application (or application cluster).
Collaborate with a server team on implementation of patches, hot fixes, service packs, etc. for windows server as well as application patching. (patch management)
Act as a point-of-contact to troubleshoot server issues.
On-Call Support
Provide "on call support for critical infrastructure systems servers.
Change and Configuration
Regularly publish and communicate how each environment is configured (SW versions, HW, Network, IP addresses, etc.).
Communicate with technical team and Quality Assurance (QA) team members to verify that implementations meet requirements.
Perform routine audits of security controls to verify compliance.
Apply configuration settings to servers as pre-defined and documented by BFTE.
Assist in release management and deployment of application customizations.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Corresponding Experience (required on matrix)
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related technical discipline is preferred.
8 years of experience is required with a bachelor's or associate degree in applicable fields.
10 years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
Experience must be consistent with the specific requirements of Computer Information/Technology or related field and progressively more technical in nature.
Experience must include direct work experience in Information Technology performing System Administration.
Experience includes a minimum combination of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training.
Required Technical Skills & Experience (required on matrix)
5 years of demonstrated experience in an enterprise environment installing, configuring, and supporting server-based applications.
Preferred Skills & Experience (optional on matrix)
Knowledge of and experience working with:
Identity Management Solutions
Microsoft Windows Active Directory (2008R2/2012/2016)
Virtual Server technology using Hypervisor and Microsoft Virtual Server, or VMWare.
Microsoft Windows Server administration and support (2008/2012/2016)
Working knowledge of software development life cycle processes including QA.
Knowledge of principles governing Network and Host Based Firewalls
Knowledge of the Windows server operating system and basic network architecture

A working knowledge and experience sufficient to successfully troubleshoot Windows operating systems using text-based logs, windows event logs, and various utilities.
Experience administering computer systems in a 24/7 high availability operational environment.
Self-starter, able to gather requirements, plan and execute in architecting and deployment efforts.
Able to perform gap analysis and initiate and execute architectural improvements.
Must have working knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls etc.
Utilize tools and analytical skills to plan and execute technical changes.
Experience troubleshooting LAN connectivity problems.
Experience using specific technologies such as Splunk, Tripwire, Nagios, Remote Desktop Services, IIS, Wireshark, App-V, Trend Micro, LANDesk, Sysinternals Tools, Puppet Enterprises, Checkpoint Firewall, Veeam backup, Client and Cisco server hardware, KVM hardware, PowerShell.
