Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration of databases from Sybase ASE/IQ to SQL Server , ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Conduct detailed assessments of existing Sybase ASE/IQ databases, including schema, data, and stored procedures.
- Develop and implement migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Utilize SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) and other tools to automate and streamline the migration process.
- Modify and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to ensure compatibility and performance in SQL Server.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application developers, business analysts, and IT support, to ensure successful migration.
- Perform thorough testing and validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Provide post-migration support, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Document migration processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience with Sybase ASE/IQ and SQL Server, including database administration and development.
- Strong understanding of database migration methodologies and tools, particularly SSMA.
- Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and stored procedure development.
- Experience in the capital markets or banking domain is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with other database technologies such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure SQL).
