Sustainable Operations Manager - Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated

At JLL, we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to decommissioning.   

In this role, you will work directly withaclient’s sustainability team, supporting energyand sustainabilitygoals, targets, and initiatives. As a member of the JLL Sustainable Operations team with a deep knowledge of the needs of our client’s program, you will ensure our sustainabilityand energyservices are effectively and efficiently delivered.  You will act as an accelerator enabling our client to increase engagement across stakeholders, progress towards goals, and realize success with buildings performance. You will ensure program integration and implementation across business/functions throughout the real estate lifecycle to achieve scope of work delivery and goals. This role requires strategic implementation leadership and a programmatic approach to embed sustainability thinking and practices into real estate functional aspects (e.g., fit-outs, occupancy, maintenance, experience, etc.).   

While a remote-based role, this positionmayrequire periodic traveland/orin-office presence as directed by the client.  

 What this job involves  

• Develop and execute energy and sustainability managementstrategy  

• Implement energy and sustainability programs to reachobjectives  

• Drive operational performance improvements through the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve energy and sustainability performance across clientportfolio  

• Identifyand manage energy and sustainability projects, including ROI and ROM evaluations, to achieveobjectives  

• Collaborate with other JLL energy managers to share best practices, develop case studies and other relevant program improvementopportunities  

• Engage withon-account leadershipand JLL facility managers to provide advisory to all aspects of energy and sustainability management, initiatives, and opportunities.  

• Collaborate with other on-account Sustainable Operations team members to deliver holistic sustainability programand united approach to energy, water, and wastereduction 

• Demonstrate robust communication, driving innovation, integration of feedback to remove roadblocks, and leverageopportunities  

• Leverage client tools and applicable in-house JLL tools and processes for problem-solving, andidentifyand secure alternative tools as needsarise  

• Coordinate with the account Sustainable Operations Program Lead for program consistencies, efficiencies, and best practicesharing  

• Work cross-functionally to achieve success with energy and sustainability initiatives aligned with the scope ofwork  

Key responsibilities include:  

• Provideexpertisein building energy efficiencies, load shifting strategies, anddecarbonization  

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement ofenergy reductionand sustainabilityinitiativesacross the client real estate portfolio, including development of relevant tactical plans andactivities  

• Meet clientenergy reductionand sustainabilityobjectivesand relevant key performance indicators and ensure processes for monitoring and measuring performance are transparent andreported  

• Provide strategic direction and guidance on ways to effectively and efficiently implement sustainabilityand energy reductionservices that meet client expectations, including leveraging supply chain partners, internal collaborations, and the broader JLL Sustainability Platform  

• Own, and improve upon, a multi-facetedenergy efficiency and sustainabilityprogram  

• Establish strong working relationships with workstreams to deliver against KPItargets  

• Effectively network cross-functionally to collaborate with other JLL service lines on the account (technology, finance, projects, IFM, consultants, and procurement) to elevate the sustainability mission andobjectives, and drive implementation where most organic within thebusiness  

• With cross-functional view, effectively manage changes in partnership with stakeholders, which have the potential toimpactsustainabilityobjectives  

• Ensure success stories are tracked and communicated to ensurea high levelof awareness and engagement is achievedwith regard tothe overall sustainability program and client’ssuccess  

• Demonstrate innovative thinking and proactive management in bringingnew ideasand solutions to the services delivery, and ensure they are rolled outeffectively  

• Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reportingpurposes  

• Own and develop stakeholderengagement  

• Manage delivery according to scope of work andschedule  

• Provide SME input and own program components (e.g., content development, maintenance) related to SMEarea  

• Be accountable to theSustainable Operations Program Lead’s direction and teamcoordination

Requirements – Essential   

• University Degree (Science, engineering, math, or related fields)  

• Strongunderstanding of building scienceandbuildingenergy reductionprinciples 

• Technicalunderstanding of common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automationsystems and their impact on sustainability goals  

• Advanced understanding of energy conservation measures  

• Strong ability toanalyzecorporate portfolio by benchmarking and reviewing utility data to drive sustainabilitymeasures   

• Ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point ofview  

• Ability to lead the technical support team to solve complex problems, plan and prioritize deadlines and think strategically toidentifyinnovativesolutions  

Requirements – Desirable   

• Advanced understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reporting   

• Experienced with site walkthroughs to find conservation measures (e.g., ASHRAE Level 1 and 2), commissioning or retro-commissioning, and/or energy conservationprograms  

• Strong project management skills and an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a high pressure, deadline drivenenvironment   

• Experience in the preparation of tenders and work orders and the ability to selectappropriate equipmentand servicevendors   

• Specialized knowledge of environmental reporting, utility management and energy budgets, an environmental improvement program, and ISO50001compliance.  

• Experience working with multifunctional teamin order todriveresults  

• Familiarity with energy procurement process and renewable energy options
