The Sustainability Systems and Methodologies Lead is a critical member of Living Progress team, responsible for leading HPE's sustainable business strategy and engaging across the company to drive toward our goals and vision . Globally, methodologies rely on a common foundation that ensures carbon emissions are measured in an accurate, consistent and reliable manner.
The Sustainability Systems and Methodologies Lead will provide leadership and management of HPE's methodologies and measurement approach across customer-facing solutions and internal tools and systems. They bring a depth of subject matter expertise around sustainability measurement frameworks and standards, and drive a cross-company program requiring extensive change management. The role will reside within the Sustainability Offerings team, focused on building a more sustainable solutions portfolio for our customers, and will partner closely with the Climate and Environment team as well as critical data and system owners across the company.
This position requires extensive cross-group coordination at all levels of the company, strong sustainability subject matter expertise, robust business acumen, excellent communication skills, the ability to synthesize complex business problems and devise and execute on plans which address big challenges and opportunities in the environmental sustainability space.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of sustainability methodologies related to HPE's product portfolio, including internal tooling and measurement approach for upstream and downstream emissions calculations.
- Develop a multi-year projection of planned methodologies and oversee their creation and adoption, working in close alignment with net-zero and sustainable offerings roadmap efforts.
- Facilitate early technical engagements with cross functional leadership to determine requirements for complex products and/or services. Ensures that design teams are aware of the systemic implications of design choices and clearly articulates anticipated impact on product and/or service lifecycle.
- Track and maintain visibility of carbon-related data flows across the company-into dashboards, tools, product design considerations, digital platforms, and more.
- Direct corporate standard methodology updates into sustainability data platforms, working closely with Director, Climate and Environment, to uphold the rigor and precision of HPE's corporate carbon footprint.
- Advise and communicate with carbon-related tool/system owners across the company on how to align new methodologies inconsistent with corporate standards, equip the organization for high scrutiny by minimizing future risks of criticism, legal action, and loss of business value, and streamline processes to enable operational and business groups to drive quickly to resolution.
- Oversee and maintain relevant documentation, internal policies, and internal standards to ensure methodologies, claims, and frameworks are aligned to the corporate standard.
- Proactively assess the need for new sustainability methodologies, and where appropriate support business groups with developing the business case or environmental justification.
- Provide internal recommendations for investments in new technologies or initiatives that could accelerate the multi-year strategy
- Drive high-impact cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and ensure the team is achieving commitments. Successful project management, including work with strategy consultants and other external agencies, on strategic efforts that require hands-on experience across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations.
- Manages internal cross-functional partnerships, defines processes and governance for on-boarding and managing external partnerships or investments, shares best practices and drives opportunities to improve upon process, influences near- and long-term sourcing decisions by clearly articulating technical and business implications.
- Follow industry trends, proposed and ratified regulations, and best practices that could impact the provision of sustainability data to our customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree preferred; preferably in an Engineering or Business discipline
- 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
- Previous Greenhouse Gas / Carbon Accounting is highly preferred.
- Previous experience within process management is preferred, but not required.
Additional Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of carbon accounting practices and/or carbon market standards Demonstrated experience with assurance activities including internal and/or operational audit
- Proven cross-functional project management and leadership skills, leading to positive organizational change (e.g. PMP and/or ProSci certification preferred)
- Aptitude to learn/understand global sustainability related policies, regulations, standards, and literature
- Track record of driving results through deep and resourceful collaboration

Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. Annual Salary: $126,500.00 - $291,000.00
