The Opportunity:
Perkins Eastman has an immediate need for an Sustainability Specialist II for Perkins Eastman Architects DPC to work at our Washington, DC location. May telecommute up to two days per week. Limited domestic and international travel involved.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Consult with firm leadership around the sustainable operations of the firm and assist in annual collection of operating metrics.
- Participate in firmwide sub-committees related to specific sustainability initiatives.
- Develop and present educational materials around a wide range of sustainability topics.
- Serve as a resource for the firm as a subject matter expert around a variety of sustainability topics. Assist with firmwide reporting of sustainability metrics.
- Stay up to date with current trends and industry research related to sustainability.
- Lead sustainability focused project work including third party certification documentation and performance analysis for projects of a variety of types and sizes.
- Advance high-performance design strategies and systems integration in support of sustainable design certifications.
- Produce effective visualizations and illustrations of projects for presentation to clients, public authorities, and partners.
- Assist with marketing pursuits and participate in client interviews.
- Conduct research centered around how building performance impacts occupants.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a Master’s in Environmental Design or other field related to sustainability, and a Bachelor’s of Architecture or related field.
- Also requires 5 years relevant experience in design and construction, and 4 years relevant experience in sustainability consulting within an architecture firm.
- Also requires skills (4 years experience) in: utilizing sustainable design strategies, including material selection and technologies; managing certification for 3rd Party Market standards including LEED (BD+C, ID+C), WELL, Passive House, Edge, and Green Globes; delivering a minimum of 2 Net Zero Energy or Net Zero Ready buildings from design through construction and operations; supporting a variety of project types with sustainability assessment, including K-12, Higher Ed, Senior Living, Multi-Family, Large Scale/Urban Design, Cultural, and Workplace; applying performance analysis software including Sefaira, COVE.Tool, WUFI Passive, Ladybug/Honeybee, Climate Studio, LightStanza, Climate Consultant, WUFI, Therm, Tally, EC3, and Butterfly; deploying indoor environmental quality sensors to measure daylight, thermal comfort, acoustics, and air quality within the built environment. Also requires LEED, WELL, and CPHC accreditations.
Type: Hybrid. 3 days in office 2 days working remotely, flexible days/working hours.
