Survey Project Manager

Your Opportunity:
- Work alongside the Survey Lead Professional and project team to ensure full project execution.
- Supervision and mentoring to project technicians, project assistants, project professionals, and field survey associates.
- Assist in obtaining legal and/or required documents including landowner rights and survey permission to achieve the scope of the project. Research ownership, right-of-way, and other property issues.
- Provide technical expertise, as it relates to land surveying, to the team.
- Collaborating in a team environment to deliver creative solutions, methods, and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Visits project site to monitor progress and direct field data collection.
- Able to attend client and public meetings as needed days or nights.
Desired Qualifications:
- College course work or technical training in a related field (geomatics/surveying, cartography, civil engineering, geography, and others).
- Professional certification or licensing in work specialization.
- 3 – 5 years related project management experience.
- Ability to operate electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments, boats, airboats, GPS, all-terrain vehicles, and other equipment necessary to obtain survey data.
- Is a proven project manager on multiple large projects simultaneously.
- Is experienced with client management and business development.
- Is engaged in professional organizations and other activities a plus.
Physical Qualifications and Work Environment:
- Frequent standing, walking while carrying equipment, possibly through rugged terrain.
- Operating and riding in varying types of boats.
- balance, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls.

Position Purpose
The project manager is primarily responsible for project execution. They also have important
responsibilities related to client management and internal leadership & management.
The project manager works within a market context on client management. The project manager works
within a discipline context on project execution and on internal leadership & management. The project
manager may or may not be the project professional on a project.

Essential Functions
Lead, Manage and Accountable (LMA)
• Lead project teams by displaying high levels of engagement and character.
• Complete associate development plans including career growth goals.
• Has a solid working knowledge of the TBS Safety Management System (SMS)
• Coordinate project specific HSES expectations with client and project team.
• Confirm that a thorough Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is completed daily.
• Ensure assigned field associates have returned safely at end of each workday.
• Respond to, investigate, and take corrective action for HSES incidents on assigned projects.
Project Execution (Planning through close out)
• Review and approve contracts.
• Plan projects thoroughly using TBS Project Management Plan (PMP).
• Coordinate needed resources with Lead Professional.
• Schedule field associates and equipment through proper channels.
• Ensure field associates have required qualifications to work on project sites.
• Ensure a complete field pack is provided to and reviewed with the field crew.
• Communicate continuously with project stakeholders.
• Maintain direct involvement in technical aspects of projects.

• Coordinate and review delegated assignments with project team.
• Deliver projects on or ahead of schedule.
• Deliver projects on or under budget.
• Review the status of all projects weekly and take corrective action as needed.
• Drive project profitability.
• Monitor and manage scope creep.
• Communicate and implement project changes based on client's shifting priorities.
• Ensure project files are complete and properly saved.
• Update project data in Vision as changes occur.
• Ensure all project costs are captured in Vision (time, units, & reimbursables).
• Ensure project team members charge time using the appropriate labor category.
• Ensure clients are charged the proper rates in accordance with the contract.
• Review and approve project invoices in a timely manner.
• Ensure that we are collecting project fees in a timely manner.
• Complete the project life cycle by ensuring projects are properly closed.
• Propose appropriate bad debt write offs.
Quality Deliverables
• Ensure standard of care and quality assurance/quality control on all project work.
• Deliver projects in accordance with the approved scope of work.
• Ensure project team follows TBS and client-specific project standards.
Front Line on Building Trusted Client Relationships
• Work in partnership with market sector leaders and client champions.
• Keep client champion informed on overall project status and client issues.
• Ensure client contact reports (CCR’s) are done.
• Conduct debrief for won & lost opportunities.
• Promote the use of additional services on existing projects when appropriate.
Key Performance Goals
• Meet or exceed personal utilization goal.
• Meet or exceed Health Safety Environment (HSE) key performance measures (KPI).
• Meet or exceed Project Billings.
• Meet or exceed Effective Direct Labor Multiplier Target for all projects.

Minimum Requirements
• College course work or technical training plus three years related technical work experience.
• Professional certification or licensing in the area of work specialization.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to relate to clients and associates at all levels of the organization.
• Possess excellent communication, diplomacy, and listening skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and complex documents.
• Ability to use computer, including business and technical software.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is generally in both a typical office and outside
environment and thus, exposed to the noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present in
such an environment. This position requires travel to visit clients, tour project sites, and other TBS office
locations and visit other field locations periodically.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, requiring 40+ hours per week. This position can be non-exempt or exempt.
Nights away from home and weekend commitments to the firm, its associates and clients are required.
