General Job Summary:
This is a part-time position (27.5 hours per week) located on the Spencer Campus. Primary responsibilities are to assist with Surgical Technology lab courses as assigned per semester. Additionally, this position will track student surgical clinical cases, evaluate and report student performance, and evaluate student progress. Must be able to obtain certification as a Certified Surgical Technician.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Represent the College in a most positive, professional manner to prospective, former, and current students, staff, and the community, and understand the Community College concept.
- Possess a commitment to a student-centered environment.
- Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
- Present oneself in a classroom setting in a manner that is acceptable and consistent with program and College guidelines, policies, and practices.
- Assume responsibility; deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, administrators and other contacts.
- Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.
- Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities and sensitive to various learning styles.
- Be a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.
Special Demands:
Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, manual dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and carrying and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, texture by touching with skin, particularly in fingertips. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). May be required to travel between sites utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree preferred. Three years of recent, relevant operating room experience. Completion of a state or nationally recognized examination. Must be able to obtain certification as a Certified Surgical Technician.
Salary: $25.00 per hour
