Summary:
Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
Assists nurse with patient care.Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.Assists in decontamination, preparation and sterilization of instruments in sterile processing.Passes instruments to physician during surgery.Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision with a positive disposition. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of experience required. Other Information: Certified Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
