SURGICAL TECHNICIAN I SPD - Baptist Health Care

The Surgical Technician I SPD, under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Department Supervisor and Manager, utilizes surgical instrumentation knowledge to provide the correct instrumentation for the Operating Room and other Procedural areas.   This position works to disassemble, clean, sterilize, and store procedure trays, instruments, and supplies. Surgical/Sterile Processing Technician I SPD works primarily in the SPD area but maybe competent to work in a Surgical Technologist position if required. Surgical/Sterile Processing Technician I SPD carries out routine and assigned tasks of inspecting case carts, instruments, and supplies, and storing items in the appropriate place in the SPD.  Surgical/Sterile Processing Technician I SPD acquires needed items from Sterile Processing Department and delivers them to the Operating Room.  Surgical/Sterile Processing Technician I SPD cleans and restocks the Sterile Core.

The person in this position works under supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree
• BLS through American Heart Association
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, equipment and supply management and decontamination of equipment with demonstrated competency,
• Ability to read and understand the English Language
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and follow through skills required.
