Surgical Tech Student - Operating Room - PRN - Deaconess Illinois

Responsible for the delivery of patient care by applying skills and techniques common to the practice of Operating Room Technician. The Operating Room Technician Student functions under the direct supervision of a Surgical Technician who is overseen by a Registered Nurse and performs tasks related to patient care. May be required to perform additional roles as listed below:

The OR Sterile Processing Technician Student provides multiple phases of processing and sterilization of a variety of patient care instruments and equipment. Assures patient care items are distributed to units and OR. They will also be responsible for assisting in the transporting of patients to and from surgery and cleaning operating rooms between and after surgical cases. Assists with environmental maintenance of the operating room and with the handling of surgical supplies.

The Endoscopy Technician Student is responsible for assisting in nursing care and preparing the endoscopy patient by performing routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies and procedures; performing scrub duties and related procedures; assisting department personnel with nursing functions as directed; and functioning as a Sterile Supply Technician Student as directed; as Sterile Supply Technician they are responsible for processing instruments, assuring proper procedures are carried out, in the processing of instruments; keeping central sterile stocked with needed supplies.

Education:

Must be currently enrolled in a School of Operating Room Technicians/Surgical Tech Program to be considered for this opportunity

Experience:

Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team and excellent communication skills required.

Licenses/Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association certification required upon hire.
