Surgical Scheduler - Atlantic Health System

About the Job
Responsible for providing pre-surgical documentation for physicians and instructions for patients. Schedules surgeries and other ancillary tests as directed by Physician or Practice Manager by appropriately placing on calendar and scheduling in EPIC Optime in a timely manner.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Interfaces with appropriate vendor staff to ensure all necessary equipment will be available on site for hospital based procedures.
2. Confirms patient's insurance and obtains prior authorization or communicates prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed.
3. Ensures all required documentation and pre-testing is completed, obtained and reviewed by clinical staff prior to surgery.
4. Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
5. Completes all pre-procedure phone calls, confirms appointment time and place and communicates instructions to patient.
6. Acts as liaison between the patient and physician regarding the surgery.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
