Directs plans and coordinates all aspects of nursing and other clinical services within the site. Oversees the ASC Clinical Departments with direct patient contact (PreOp, PACU, OR, SPD, GI, and Xray). Functions as the “quarterback” for the clinical care team. In conjunction with the Director, evaluates the department’s performance against the benchmark data and goals established and implements process improvements to archive the goals set. Acts as a role model for all other caregivers in the coordination of patient care. Performs to the level of a licensed registered nurse as dictated by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and Duly.
Responsibilities:What You Will Do
- Physician Governance/Leadership: Collaborates with physicians on accomplishing Practice goals: financial targets, quality/patient satisfaction targets. Keeps physicians informed on progress toward goal accomplishment. Communicates with physicians organizational initiatives, policies, and assists them in interpretation and working within organizational parameters.
- Planning: Organizes/budgets resources (people, equipment, materials) to deliver effective patient care. Reviews department goals and arranges work to accomplish goals. Develops short range targets as indicators toward reaching goals.
- Controlling: Reviews financial and patient outcomes and assures outcomes fall within acceptable pre-determined limits. Trends data and investigates outliers to determine if action is warranted for correction and prevention. Evaluates department data against performance benchmarks and goals established and works with the clinical team to implement performance improvement.
- Human Resources: Plans for acquisition, alignment, and engagement of human resources through selection, on-boarding, coaching, appraisal, and development. Seeks to create an environment with emphasis on team work in accomplishing the mission and goals of the Practice and MPAS. Appropriately seeks guidance in assistance with human resource concerns.
- Patient Satisfaction: Assesses the patient experience through various methodologies of collecting information from patients. Tracks complaints and responds to address complaints in a timely manner. Works toward recovering and ensuring the needs of patients are met. Appropriately educates the patient on MPAS policies in order to enhance and prevent misunderstandings. Brings issues forward to Directors for resolutions that are based in organizational systems.
- MPAS Activities: Member of the Management Team, representing their Practice to other MPAS management associates. May participate in Ad Hoc or Standing Committees. Representative of MPAS in the community at large
- Functions as a clinical/ management resource and leader for the clinical team and physicians.
- Performs the duties of the triage nurse, staff nurse, or medical assistant as necessary.
- Consults and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Provide professional clinical leadership, maintain/delegate work schedule for nursing department staff, delegate tasks, monitor overtime and adjust schedules accordingly, approve time off requests for clinical team as needed and adjust schedule as needed, assist in annual employee evaluations, coordinate department meetings as needed, delegate nursing tasks, monitor budgetary constraints, maintain DMG policy and procedures, doctor/patient liaison, maintain patient confidentiality, assure OSHA/Safety compliance.
- Available to other office clinical and non-clinical staff to answer questions and provide assistance as appropriate.
- Performs all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Must have a current CPR certification and a current and valid Illinois Nurse License
- Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with nursing standards in the Nurse Practice Act
Experience
- At least five years professional nursing experience. Inpatient and outpatient experience helpful.
- Charge nurse, lead nurse, or some other supervisory experience desired.
