JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate.
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in health care/business related field preferred.
- Proficient experience with the MS Office products (Word, Excel, outlook, PowerPoint, & Access).
- Knowledge of ESi or other surgical software programs and experience with other clinical/health care surgical software/billing applications preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of surgical scheduling/billing experience required.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology required.
- Professional experience that includes billing and coding indicators for Surgical and Diagnostics Procedures.
- Professional experience to include operational knowledge of computerized data entry, databases and electronic medical record information systems.
- Excellent Organizational Skills and Planning.
- Highly proficient in communication skills and customer service skills.
- 3 years of experience in data entry and information management in a clinical environment required
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrates the Resilience Healthcare Customer Service Values, which are required in providing quality service to patients and customers.
- Follows department and hospital policies/procedures.
- Answering multi-line high-volume phones.
- Responsible for scheduling 10-50 procedures per day and liaison for a number of referring physician offices.
- Skill in written and verbal communication and customer relations.
- Assists in orientation, training, and evaluating clerical staff as requested by the OR leadership for the Surgical Department. Additionally, provides guidance to clinical staff in meeting documentation and record keeping requirements within the Department as it related to surgical documentation and charge capture.
- Demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills.
- Requires the skill set to multi-task, manage time effectively, and deliver results. Requires strict attention to detail.
- Responsible for charge capturing, posting, review, processing, journaling and reconciliation to ensure all surgical/gastroenterology procedures are captured accurately and inputted via the electronic software system.
- Reviews all charges (OR/GI lab charges) entered into electronic system on a daily basis and conducts daily charge ticket reconciliations.
- Verifies that associated charges for the procedures are accurate and complete.
- Utilizes Charge Master for OR/GI charges and works with supply chain management to update charge master.
- Contacts clinical staff when information is missing.
- Reviews post-surgical/procedural records to ensure charges are posted for all events and documentation supports charges billed.
- Compliance with all administrative, fiscal and record keeping policies for the Department; including compliance with regulatory guidelines for local, state, and national regulatory agencies.
- Facilitates the quality and accuracy of data collection, aggregation, coordinator and analysis to support the hospital-wide performance improvement plan and quality measures.
- Generates reports, spreadsheets charts, meeting minutes, and presentations based on data collected from various performance improvement committees and department meetings.
- Responsible for mastering new computer applications necessary for maintaining documents and databases.
- Requires the ability to interact courteously, professionally while providing excellent customer service with internal and external customers.
