Job Description
We are looking for a Support Engineer with knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical and other Ansys software packages. This role will be remote. Rand Simulation, a division of Rand Worldwide, is a leading provider of ANSYS CAE solutions and engineering simulation consulting services and an elite North American channel partner for ANSYS. Since 2018, Rand Simulation has partnered with ANSYS to further strengthen its collaborative consulting services for CFD, FEA, and Electromagnetic analysis while striving for the strongest customer value-add.
What will you be responsible for?
The support engineer with Rand Simulation is responsible for ensuring the success of our customers by assisting with the troubleshooting of technical issues that arise from the installation, licensing, and use of Ansys software. The support engineer will be responsible for researching technical issues, tracking progression for all active cases, testing proposed solutions, and working one on one with customers to deliver hands-on support.
Responsibilities:
- Staying current on Ansys software packages, licensing structures, and system requirements
- Case management and tracking case progression inside the Rand Simulation CRM system
- Documenting common issues and potential software defects
- When appropriate, delegating support load to other engineer on the Rand Simulation Team
- Researching root cause of support-related issues through the resources provided
- Testing proposed solutions using Ansys software for issues related to workflow
- Acting as the liaison between Ansys support and the customer when Ansys engagement is required
- Occasionally aiding and lending technical expertise on consulting projects
- Tracking and reporting on monthly, quarterly, and yearly support metrics
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
- Ph.D./M.S./B.S./B.A. in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Physics, or similar discipline
- 5 years + of mechanical or structural engineering/design experience
- 5 years + of FEA/structural analysis experience with ANSYS Mechanical
- Ansys Fluent, CFX, Maxwell, and/or HFSS strongly desired
- LS-Dyna, Ansys Motion, nCode, Sherlock, AUTODYN or other Ansys ancillary products highly valued
- Proven experience with most structural analysis methods and approaches is required
- Experience with MAPDL and/or Python coding strongly desired
- Understanding of the Ansys licensing structure is strongly desired
- Experience using Altair, FEMAP/NX, MSC/PATRAN, Autodesk Nastran, Simulation Mechanical/Algor, COMSOL, Abaqus, Simulia, or similar codes a plus
- Knowledge of underlying FEA principals such as linear algebra, partial differential equations, etc.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems (Inventor and/or SolidWorks preferred) is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct web meetings and correspondence with customers
- A logical problem-solving approach and ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to a customer
- A self-starter and motivator with an engaging personality and strong energy
- Ability to work diligently alone when needed, but knows when to seek help
- Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred, but not mandatory
- Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously
