Responsibilities:Position Summary:
The Manager, O.R. Materiel's Management is responsible for all O.R. owned and consigned supply and inventory areas. Oversees and assists the purchasing and perioperative departments in meeting both regulatory and budgetary requirements. Ensures the coordination of purchasing activities to ensure customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness, the deployment/effective use of supporting systems, and stewardship with inventory management practices. Also, responsible for ensuring the very highest levels of satisfaction among UC Irvine Health customers, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and the highest integrity in all supply chain, inventory management, contracting, and procurement services.

Required Qualifications:
- Travel between procurement office and medical center locations, other travel up to 10%
- Ten (10) years of previous experience, preferably in a hospital or a large, complex healthcare system, or equivalent University purchasing experience. Experience in supply chain management with strong background in finance/decision support analytics. Must be able to articulate documented savings and supporting details.
- Strong organization and project management skills
- Strong commitment to maintaining the highest levels of integrity
- Strong analytical skills to collect and analyze operational data
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices/procedures (such as RFP/RFI/RFQ process), and demonstrated knowledge of strategic vendor sourcing and negotiation techniques
- Must demonstrate customer service and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of and experience in process improvement methodologies and techniques
- Experience with the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives
- Demonstrated understanding of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel and Access
- Demonstrated experience with budgetary processes including establishing, maintaining, and reporting income, expenses, and variances
- Bachelors' degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to lead diverse health system initiatives, lead change, and manage complex business issues
- Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in materiel management and purchasing/contracting in a healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a related field
- Knowledge of modern Material Management Information Systems (MMIS) preferred.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation
- A recognized materials management certification such as AHRMM or American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) is preferred.
