Supply Chain Manager /Co-Manufacturing Manager – Food Manufacturing
Remote with travel
Our client is small but rapidly growing start-up international food ingredient manufacturer. Based on growth, they are looking to hire a full time Supply Chain Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations for the company. This includes production planning, inventory management, logistics, order processing, and ensuring seamless collaboration and execution with external manufacturing partners.
The ideal candidate will excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers, while implementing strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality standards across the supply chain. The scope of the role will be heavily focused on North America in the short term, with some occasional activities supporting Europe and other regions as needed. No direct reports but there could be in the future as the grow and expand.
Responsibilities
External Manufacturing Partner Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for external manufacturing partners, creating and ensuring
alignment on production schedules, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
Negotiate contracts and manage service-level agreements with external manufacturers.
Identify and deploy process engineering resources as needed to achieve supply chain goals.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of manufacturing partners, addressing any issues or
concerns promptly.
Logistics, Shipping, and Order Processing:
Directly manage all aspects of logistics, including inbound and outbound shipments,
warehousing, and transportation.
Ensure timely and accurate order processing, fulfillment, and delivery to customers.
Collaborate with logistics providers to optimize shipping costs and improve delivery efficiency.
Address and resolve shipping delays, discrepancies, and customer inquiries related to order fulfillment.
Supply Chain Management:
Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with company goals and customer requirements.
Manage procurement of raw materials and ingredients to maintain optimal inventory levels and meet production demands.
Monitor supply chain performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and cost efficiency.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain activities, including cost, efficiency, and
quality metrics.
Prepare and present regular reports on supply chain performance to senior management.
Utilize data and analytics to forecast demand, manage inventory, and improve supply chain operations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure all supply chain activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and
company policies.
Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain, including potential disruptions and quality issues.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or a similar role, in the
food/ingredient industry.
Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, including procurement, external manufacturing,
logistics, and order fulfillment.
Must be willing to travel 20-30% in US and Canada
Proven experience managing external manufacturing relationships.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Entrepreneurial mindset, be a go-getter with a “can-do attitude”, a high degree of
independence and flexibility.
Experience with international supply chains and import/export processes
Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools, such as ERP or inventory
management systems.
Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, such as FDA, GFSI or GMP compliance.
APICS certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent is a plus.
