Job Overview:Supplier Quality Engineer supports Nikkiso ACD with effective management, development, and improvement of the supply chain, and ensure vendors’ compliance to quality requirements of materials and services used to execute complex technical manufacturing projects. This role plays a critical role in executing Nikkiso ACD mission to deliver high quality products, on time and on budget. Successful candidates for this position must be proficient (least two years of experience) in Supplier Quality, Root Cause Corrective Actions (CAPA), Trend Analysis and Statistics, Quality Systems, GD&T and Dimensional Inspection.
This position is based at Nikkiso ACD located in Santa Ana, CA.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Procurement Department on the identification of the perspective suppliers, assessment, evaluation, and approvals.
- As part of the suppliers’ assessment, Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for conducting audits such as management system audit, order processing and supplier capabilities audits.
- In coordination with the Procurement Department, Supplier Quality Engineer shall maintain the Approved Vendor Database.
- Closely work together with the Material Review Board team, gather information regarding the suppliers’ performance, assist in the Return-to-Vendor dispositioned goods.
- Together with the Procurement Department representatives, Communicate the suppliers’ performance and trend analysis to the applicable suppliers and initiate improvement actions where necessary.
- Create and maintain the Supplier Quality program and lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase the supplier capability to consistently meet the requirements.
- Manage the supply chain to ensure that suppliers comply with quality standards and requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between suppliers, and Nikkiso ACD Operations, Nikkiso ACD Engineering, and Quality (including Receiving Inspection).
- Identify technical problems with suppliers and implement corrective actions to ensure continuity of supply chain.
- Use engineering expertise to increase supplier quality reliability, and conduct capability assessments.
- Monitor, communicate and improve supply chain KPI’s, including supplier on time delivery and nonconformance metrics.
- Implement problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
- Initiate and track supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), communicating with suppliers to obtain effective and timely corrective actions to prevent recurrence of product defects.
- Establish specific short/long term supplier quality goals.
- Monitor activities pertaining to the completeness and current revision levels of quality production documents and assure change control and configuration management procedures.
- Participate in engineering change order activities, material review boards, and change control as required to support program performance.

- Previous exposure to a machine shop, foundry or sheet metal shop.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Quality System auditing and reporting experience.
- Understanding of standard manufacturing and safety compliance processes.
Experience and Education:
- Engineering degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ASQ Supplier Quality Professional is a plus.
Work Environmental and Physical Demands:
- To perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
- Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. may be required.
- Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.

Environmental Safety Requirements
- New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness.
- All safety-related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Director.
- Job specific training modules deemed necessary by the employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis.
- Understanding and ability to safely work in a potentially explosive environment.
Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.

Salary: $75,000 - $100,000 annually
