About the Job
- Supplier Quality Audit - Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
- Reviewing our manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for production.
- Review and approve vendor quality documentation for First Article Inspections at a minimum. Document Control and Supplier Quality must coordinate to ensure all documents are collected from the supplier.
- Reviewing incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
- Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
- Maintaining detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
- Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- ASQ certificate preferred
- At least 2 years of experience required in supplier quality preferred
- Approve/confirm Supplier root cause analysis, development of countermeasures and implementation
- Perform data analysis, prioritize top impact issues, and drive supplier characteristic improvement activities
- Oversee and manage complex problem-solving analysis and investigations
- Manage and support communication with suppliers and other departments in regard to countermeasures.
- Approving/disapprove suppliers
- Own Quality hold inventory and its disposition plan
- Facilitate scrap reduction projects with suppliers and internal functions
- Manage supplier relationships as it pertains to quality including
- Some domestic and international travel to the supplier location is required, (Up to 25% of the time, most of which resides in Ohio)
- Experience with Quality Systems (ISO9000, IATF, etc.)
- Philosophy of Lean Manufacturing - Green belt certification preferred
- Structured problem-solving skills to determine root cause, including FMEA, SPC, Control Plans
- Knowledge of statistical sampling and analysis
- Assesses quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods.
- Read and interpret Engineering drawings and technical documentation with understanding of electronic components and printed circuit board assembly processes
- Uses dashboards and metrics to drive on-going commodity performance continuous improvement.
- Creation and implementation of data collection and metrics to ensure products meet or exceed requirements.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
- Analysis of return materials and warranty information.
- Determine root cause of supplier manufacturing problems and implementing timely, effective, and efficient quality resolutions.
- Verify effectiveness of supplier's corrective actions, validated by data and metrics.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, maintaining American Society for Quality certification, and/or participating in other professional associations
