Job Description
Certified Auditor for ISO 9001 is required
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for the successful execution of the Global Supplier Quality program and will contribute to its continuous improvement. The position will monitor the suppliers' performance and will develop and implement plans to mitigate risks. He or she will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand supplier quality requirements and issues and will use them to identify priorities and drive solutions. He or she will interface with suppliers to communicate client's quality requirements, assess their performance, drive improvements, and address issues.
Major Responsibilities
. Support the client's safety culture by demonstrating leadership as it strives to achieve an accident-free environment.
. Promote client's vision of striving to be a premier specialty chemicals and materials company, and demonstrate and integrate its core values into daily activities.
. Responsible for both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development.
. Develop and execute supplier qualification processes, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards improving their standards of excellence.
. Monitor and report suppliers' performance in defined categories. Determine a course of action to improve low-performing suppliers.
. Support the development of a comprehensive supplier scorecard and actively manage the performance of critical suppliers.
. Evaluate the effectiveness and timeliness of suppliers' response to incidents, and act to improve them.
. Schedule supplier audits globally, and plan resources to execute them.
. Carry out audits to assess suppliers' ability to meet client's requirements, and follow up on audit findings.
. Facilitate the supplier segmentation process based on risk and criticality to the businesses they serve.
. Improve supplier capability through training and education.
. Evaluate internal processes for improvements, and implement special programs and applications for enhancements.
. Continually improve the quality of data related to the suppliers' performance.
. Review and update supplier management procedures for improvements.
. Establish periodic reviews of critical raw material specifications with the technical organization, and ensure that they reflect current requirements.
. Maintain suppliers' adherence to general quality provisions of the company.
. Participate with Procurement to qualify and/or disqualify suppliers.
Required Skills
. Strong written and verbal communication skills
. Strong understanding of Six Sigma and application to supplier quality programs
. Strong interpersonal skills to manage and collaborate with internal resources and external suppliers on a global basis.
. Ability to manage multiple projects proficiently
. Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
. Self-motivated
. Result-oriented
Required Experience
. Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or Bachelor of Arts in Science
. 5 years of industrial technical experience in operations roles or quality function
. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage quality improvement initiatives from identification to sustainable implementation
. SAP Ariba experience is a plus
. Experienced in leading projects to completion
. Demonstrated ability to network effectively and collaborate with others
. Ability to travel approximately 35%
. Certified Auditor for ISO 9001 is required
. Any FDA and/or EXCiPACT experience a large plus
