Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Pharmacy Supervisor for the IV Room, you be responsible for the overall function of the department and oversee IV and Chemotherapy preparation rooms. You will be responsible for the management of department functions including workflow, staffing, scheduling and process improvement. You will function as a staff Pharmacist when needed.
- You will work with the manager to establish department goals and objectives and assume responsibility for implementation and monitoring
- You will proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources
- You will assist with hiring, training and providing orientation to new employees
- You will be responsible for overseeing, reporting and documenting medication audits, medication use and medication accountability
- You will interpret medication orders, prepare and dispense medications safely and accurately using appropriate techniques
- You will monitor medication therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, drug-laboratory test interactions, allergies, appropriateness of drug and dose, and therapeutic duplications
- You will actively participate in intervention, performance improvement and professional programs
- You will assist with inventory management and ensure the appropriate storage of medications
What qualifications you will need:
- 2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program
- Licensed Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Certification in Sterile Product Preparation
