Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Pathologist Assistant (PA) will manage a small team of PAs and cytotechnologists, and work closely with supervising pathologists to perform tissue transfer and large specimen grossing with appropriate tissue sampling and gross description composition. In addition, the Supervisor, PA will also serve as a general administrative manager and coordinator of the on-site pathology group. Additional corporate resources will be provided to assist in this regard.
Responsibilities:
- Provides staff supervision and management of the PA and Cytotechnologist teams
- Performs gross pathology prosection and description with submission of appropriate tissue for thorough pathology evaluation
- Assists with preparation of frozen section slides
- Prosects and assists in report generation of rare fetal and adult autopsies
- Assists in appropriate quality control and quality assurance measures
- Assists pathologists in preparing for tumor board or other presentations
- Adheres to all Compliance and HIPAA regulations
- Adheres to laboratory quality control policies
Experience & Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Pathologist Assistant (PA) from an accredited college or university, graduation from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences required
- Seven or more years of laboratory experience as pathology assistant required; additional leadership or managerial experience preferred
- (Exceptions to these requirements are in respect to individuals qualifying prior to April 1, 1972 (see NYCRR section 58-1.5(5).)
- Pathologist assistant certification under ASCP
