Position Purpose
Under the general direction of the manager, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Imaging Department, the staff, performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures, and actively participate as a member of the Imaging team.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent provides imaging services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and families. Demonstrating the ability to work with patient’s physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs specific to the population being served and meets standards of quality as measured by the Unit/Department age specific competency standards.
Competently operates imaging equipment and related machinery. Verifies and executes physician’s orders for diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional exams, ensuring the proper preparation for such exams, and the safety and wellbeing of patients during procedures. Other duties include, but are not limited to, billing, supplies stocking, file maintenance, medical charting, informed consent documentation, quality improvement studies, patient history/symptoms acquisition. Determines the best method of obtaining optimal examinations while ensuring patient safety; regulates patient flow, consults with radiologists and cardiologists to determine contrast media and makes necessary corrections to improve image quality. May be required to assist other modalities within the department or Renown Health.
The position is responsible for coordination of daily workflow of the staff and providing for appropriate QC monitoring as specified in the evaluation section of the job description.
The incumbent acts as a liaison between the staff and the Manager, Director of Imaging, Radiologists and Cardiologists, medical staff, and the Administration of Renown Health.
The incumbent will help to develop policy and procedure for the Imaging Department. The incumbent will be responsible for providing the staff with current information regarding policy and procedure, disaster plans, fire and safety regulations, etc.
The incumbent will insure that all staff are afforded scheduled time to maintain current competencies.
The incumbent will assist the manager with scheduling of staff, orientation of new employees, supply inventory and ordering, scheduling for emergency repair of imaging equipment, participation in Quality Improvement process, and staff developmental in-services.
Major challenges to this position are related to staying current with changes in the field of radiology and cardiology, managing and coordinating the imaging departments on a daily basis as well as providing strategic planning input for the future direction of the department.
It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress. Renown Health has a Safety Management Program in place addressing these issues.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Applicants with Bachelor degree preferred but not required.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of two years of imaging or nursing experience.
200266: An Interventional Technologist in the supervisor roll must have 5 years of Electrophysiology experience in order to maintain EP accreditation with the IAC.
200266, 200255: Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) and Vascular Interventional (VI) preferred.

Current BLS certification by The American Heart Association Standards at time of hire.
ACLS and PALS are required within 6 months of hire for 200255 and 200266 only
