In summary, our superintendent plays a crucial role in managing the on-site execution of a construction project, collaborating closely with the project manager, carpenters, and other stakeholders. They are responsible for overseeing site management, scheduling, quality control, communication, problem-solving, budget management, and training and mentoring, ensuring a successful and efficient construction process.
Responsibilities:
- Site Management: The superintendent is responsible for managing the job site, ensuring that it remains safe, clean, and well-organized throughout the construction process. They also enforce safety protocols and coordinate the necessary inspections and permits.
- Scheduling and Coordination: The superintendent oversees and manages the project schedule, ensuring that deadlines are met and resources are used efficiently. They coordinate and supervise the work of the team of carpenters, as well as any subcontractors, to ensure the construction process runs smoothly and on time.
- Quality Control: The superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the work performed meets the project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations. They monitor the quality of materials and workmanship and address any issues that may arise.
- Communication and Collaboration: The superintendent serves as the primary point of contact between the project manager, carpenters, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. They facilitate communication and collaboration, ensuring that everyone is informed and aligned with the project goals and objectives. They also provide regular updates to the project manager on progress, challenges, and any necessary changes or adjustments.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: The superintendent is responsible for addressing any issues or challenges that may arise during the construction process. They must be adept at identifying and resolving problems quickly and efficiently, and making decisions that keep the project on track.
- Budget Management: The superintendent works closely with the project manager to ensure that the project stays within budget. They are responsible for monitoring costs, tracking expenditures, and identifying any potential cost overruns.
- Training and Mentoring: The superintendent is responsible for providing guidance, support, and training to the team of carpenters, helping them grow and develop their skills. They ensure that team members are knowledgeable about the project specifications and goals, and work to foster a collaborative, positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction management, architecture or civil engineering
- Knowledge of Local codes and construction practices
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to work with all types of people in a professional and positive manner.
- Must portray a professional appearance and a positive can do attitude.
- Applicant must have reliable transportation
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate basic to advanced skills with email, MS excel and MS word as well as capability to efficiently use phone, tablet and computer applications.
- Must be extremely organized and neat. Applicant will be responsible for keeping clean and safe job-sites with experience in all types of finish protections
- Applicant must be able to build a construction schedule and schedule subcontractors and suppliers on a daily basis
